Nepal salary tax calculator

Estimate annual income tax, monthly TDS, eligible deductions, SSF contributions and average take-home pay using the current IRD bands.

Your figures are processed for this request and are not saved by this calculator. Use annual amounts for bonuses, EPF/CIT and eligible premiums.

1. Enter employment income

This is a separate eligibility declaration. Select it only if you have confirmed that you qualify under the FY 2083/84 IRD rules; EPF/CIT contributions alone do not automatically select it.

Only include contributions to an approved retirement fund. The deduction is limited by the annual rules.

Eligible insurance, tuition and medical expenses

Do not enter account numbers, PAN details or other identifiers. No figures are stored in a profile.

How to use the result

Build the estimate from your payslip

01 · Separate basic pay

Enter the basic salary used by your employer for SSF. Put regular taxable allowances in the allowance field. Include a taxable bonus once under annual bonus so it is not counted twice.

02 · Enter yearly contributions

Use the annual amount actually paid into approved EPF, CIT or retirement funds. If SSF is selected, the calculator estimates the employee contribution at 11% of monthly basic pay and an employer contribution at 20%.

03 · Add only qualifying expenses

Enter premiums and bills only when they meet the IRD conditions. The estimate applies published limits: life/investment insurance up to NPR 40,000, health insurance up to NPR 20,000, private building insurance up to NPR 10,000 and qualifying child tuition at 25% up to NPR 25,000. Retirement deductions are capped at the lower of qualifying contributions, NPR 500,000 and one-third of assessable income.

04 · Compare with payroll TDS

The monthly TDS shown is annual estimated tax divided by 12. A real employer may spread withholding differently across pay periods or adjust it after a bonus, pay change or updated declaration. Compare the full-year estimate with your payroll statement.

Official sources and scope

The tax bands and deduction limits are transcribed from the Inland Revenue Department’s FY 2083/84 natural-person rate document. SSF contribution shares use the Social Security Fund’s published scheme overview. Checked 6 October 2026.

This is an estimate for resident employment income, not a tax return or payroll instruction. It does not model business or investment income, non-resident tax, employer benefits, remote-area allowances, foreign postings, prior withholding, rebates outside the listed fields, or all personal circumstances. Confirm eligibility and amounts with IRD or a qualified tax professional before filing or changing payroll declarations.

Compare retirement contributions and net pay

Use the SSF calculator to estimate employee and employer contributions, or compare the take-home salary estimate with your payslip.
