Answer the questions in the application
Home Affairs prefers applicants to answer the Genuine Student questions in the online form. The official page states a 150-word limit for each response and requires answers in English.
Explain your current circumstances
Describe relevant family, community, employment and economic circumstances. Use specific facts that can be supported. Do not invent a job, income, family responsibility or property connection.
Explain the course and provider choice
Show that you researched the course content, duration, campus and requirements. Explain why this option fits your earlier education or work and why you selected it over realistic alternatives.
Explain the future benefit
Connect the qualification to credible skills, employment or professional development. If the course changes direction from your previous study, explain the reason directly and support it with the relevant history.
Attach evidence for material claims
Home Affairs says supported statements receive more weight. Depending on the claim, evidence can include transcripts, employment records, a CV, tax or bank records, and information about relevant future work.
Avoid templates and false certainty
A copied statement cannot explain your individual circumstances. Write your own accurate answers and check that they agree with the rest of the visa application and documents. Meeting a word limit or using particular phrases does not guarantee a visa.
