Questions to answer before travelling

Insurance conditions depend on the policy, destination and employment arrangement. A brochure or verbal explanation may not describe exclusions, claim documents or the process a family must follow. Read the policy itself and retain the contact details needed to use it.

  1. Identify what is covered

Check the insured person, coverage period, covered events, benefit amount, exclusions and any waiting period. Confirm when cover begins and whether it continues for the full contract.

  2. Understand the claim process

Write down the insurer’s contact channel, claim deadline and supporting documents. Ask how a family member abroad can notify the insurer and where original records must be sent.

  3. Keep a usable copy

Save the policy, payment receipt and emergency contacts somewhere you and a trusted family member can access. Confirm the insurer using its official contact details, not only a number in an unsolicited message.
