1. Before submitting
- I confirmed that personal PAN, not business PAN, fits my purpose.

2. Documents to prepare or confirm
“Official guidance” = supported by a cited authority; “Confirm” = a preparation suggestion, not an established mandatory requirement.

- Submission number, if using Taxpayer Portal and office verification (Confirm with office)

Personal PAN
Compare with: IRD instructions for employees and individual income earners.
Avoid: Starting business registration instead of checking the individual route.
Taxpayer category
Compare with: The relevant IRD personal or business registration guidance.
Avoid: Selecting business PAN for individual salary income, or the reverse, without checking.
Official submission channel
Compare with: The IRD Taxpayer Portal or officially supported app route for your circumstances.
Avoid: Providing login credentials or identity scans to an unofficial intermediary.
4. Confirm your office or programme
- Personal PAN: the IRD describes online application and, for the taxpayer-portal route, office verification; Nagarik App may provide a different issuance path.
- Business PAN: select the appropriate Inland Revenue/Taxpayer Service Office and confirm its registration requirements.
