Before you verify a report

Keep the original Police Clearance Report file or printout available. Use the report exactly as issued; do not crop, edit, retype or alter its QR code or identifying details. If an embassy, employer, university or other organisation asked for the report, check its own rules for the accepted format, translation, certification and issue date. Those rules are separate from Nepal Police's online verification service.

Step 1: Open the verification service from Nepal Police

Go to the official Nepal Police website and choose Police Clearance Report, then Verify Online. The Nepal Police homepage also links to its official OPCR verification screen. Check the address bar before entering report information: the application and verification service is hosted under opcr.nepalpolice.gov.np. Do not submit identity details to a search advertisement, agent's form or unrelated verification website.

Step 2: Follow the fields shown by OPCR

Use the verification option currently shown by the official portal. If it asks you to scan the report's QR code, scan the code from the original document and check that the resulting page remains on the official OPCR site. If it asks for report details instead, copy only the requested information carefully from the original. The portal's current on-screen instructions control the process; this guide does not assume a fixed form layout.

Step 3: Compare the result with the issued report

Check that the verification response corresponds to the person and report you intended to check. Compare the identifying details and report reference that OPCR makes available with the unaltered report in your possession. A mismatch, missing result or unreadable QR code needs follow-up through the official service; do not treat a third-party screenshot as proof that the report is genuine.

Step 4: If the report does not verify

First make sure you used the official Verify Online service and entered or scanned the details exactly as shown on the original. Check that the scan is clear and that the page has finished loading. If it still does not match, keep the original file and any reference information and contact Nepal Police using the current contact details on its official website or the OPCR help option. Do not edit the certificate to make it match a result.

Step 5: Confirm what the receiving organisation needs

Online verification confirms information available through Nepal Police's system. It does not decide whether a receiving organisation accepts the report, how recent it must be, or whether it needs a translation, notarisation, attestation or another document. Ask the organisation requesting the clearance which format it accepts and follow its instructions before paying an intermediary.

Protect your personal information

Police Clearance Reports contain sensitive identity information. Avoid posting the report, QR code, passport details or verification response publicly. Use a private device and a secure connection, and share a copy only with the organisation that needs it. Nepal Answers does not issue or verify Police Clearance Reports and cannot change a Nepal Police record.

Quick check before sending a copy

  • The report is the original file or an unchanged copy from the official process.
  • Verification was opened from nepalpolice.gov.np or the official OPCR domain.
  • The result corresponds to the report details shown by OPCR.
  • The recipient's rules for format, translation and issue date are confirmed separately.
  • Sensitive information is shared only with the intended recipient.
