Choose the correct application type

The Department of Passports separates first issuance, renewal, lost or stolen replacement, damaged replacement and data correction. Choose the option that describes your situation. A person who previously held only a handwritten passport uses first issuance, while a holder of an MRP or e-passport normally uses renewal when no personal data needs changing.

Complete the online form and appointment

Open the application system from the Department of Passports website. Choose a 34-page or 66-page passport, select the place where you will apply, complete each section and upload the requested scans. The department says uploaded documents must be scans of originals and no larger than 1 MB. Select an available appointment where the system offers one.

Check every personal detail

Match your name, surname, date and place of birth, citizenship details and address to the supporting records. Enter a working email address and phone number because the department uses them for status messages. If you are renewing or replacing a passport, enter the latest passport details requested by the form.

Save the submitted PDF

After submitting, download the original PDF generated by the system. Print it or keep the PDF on your phone; the department warns that a screenshot is not a substitute. Attend the selected enrolment centre at the scheduled time with the original documents required for your application type.

Before biometric enrolment

Ask for a correction before your photograph is taken if you notice an error. Review the final details before signing. The department states that changes after approval can require cancellation and a new application with the applicable fee. Check the official required-document and revenue pages immediately before the appointment because requirements and charges can change.
